The main advantage of using ApliCAD UpdateBIM is sure you have the last release of each object.

The owner of each catalog is responsible to maintain the objects currently updated.

The administrator of the catalog has the tools to update and/or delete any object when they have changed.

When the objects changed and are ready to use, you need to publish the new release of the object for all users.

Update Families

Revit

The process for updating a family is very simple.

1.- You need to use the genuine file, open it in Revit, and to do changes.

For example, in the next picture, you can see a door family with 3 types, and you need to add a new type.
If you don´t have the genuine file, you can insert one type in a new project.

UpdateBIM Update Families
When you use a family, the program places the last release in the next folder on your computer:
"C:\Users\Public\UpdateBIM\Family Folder\aplicad@aplicad.com\Doors\Internal Doors"
and the file is named "Doors_IntSgl_w-Transome.rfa"

IMPORTANT - To realize the changes in the Revit file, copy the file to another folder, and use the file in that folder.

When the file is changed, you need to update using the content manager.

We recommend realizing changes in the database of ApliCAD UpdateBIM using a new project.

In a new project open the Content Manager command:

UpdateBIM Update Families
At the moment, the family has 3 types, and you need to click on the Edit button.

When starting the process, the system shows you the actual information in the Database, like this:

UpdateBIM Update Families
You need to click on the folder icon and select the Revit file changed.

The system analyzes this file and shows you the new configuration of the types.

UpdateBIM Update Families
The result shows you the new family and you need to publish it again for all users.
While this change is not published, the old and new file is not available for the users.
